Aqua 21 Prototype Device

The Aqua 21 device is an advanced solution designed for the agriculture industry, focused on enhancing water quality monitoring. This project involved intricate design elements, including custom inlay artwork and a robust casing for electronic components. Designed with practicality and durability in mind, the Aqua 21 device is set to make significant contributions to agricultural practices.

Neuranics Design & Batch Manufacture

The Neuranics project involved creating a concept design for a housing solution for a PCB stack. Our detailed CAD modelling focused on producing an attractive housing that would be showcased internationally, featuring high-quality finishes.

Technical Highlights:

  • Development of four distinct concept designs.
  • Detailed CAD modelling for precise engineering.
  • Black resin body with custom white inlay for a striking appearance.
  • Extensive post-processing including high grit polishing and lacquering.

Sonozilla Model

The Sonozilla model serves as an educational outreach tool, featuring a custom CAD model of an ultrasonic pill. This project leverages 3D printing to create an engaging visual representation that enhances public understanding of ultrasonic technology and its applications.

Technical Highlights:

  • Custom CAD modelling for accurate representation of the ultrasonic pill.
  • 3D printed components to create a tangible educational tool.
  • Designed for science communication and public engagement.
  • Promotes understanding of advanced technology in a relatable format.

 


Lateral Dx Cassettes

We partnered with a diagnostics startup to design prototypes that house vital components for lateral flow tests.  Removing the initial need for injection moulding.

Technical Work:

  • CAD modelling executed in Onshape version including a control system to enable client testing and rapid iteration.
  • Implementation of snap-fit mechanisms and part numbers for easy assembly and traceability.

 

 

Ultrasonic Levitator

In collaboration with FUSE CDT, we designed and produced three functioning ultrasonic levitators.

This project involved comprehensive development across various disciplines, showcasing our full-stack capabilities.

Technical Highlights:

  • Multi-material 3D printed casing for enhanced functionality.
  • Custom electronics layout crafted on perfboard, ensuring robust electronics connections.
  • Integration with Arduino for seamless control and operation.

 

 


Bat Helmets
(Outreach Education Tool)

This project involved the creation of educational wearables aimed at teaching school children about ultrasound through the fascinating phenomenon of bat echolocation.

Technical Work:

  • Mechanical design focused on modular components, for easy replacement.
  • Digital organic sculpting to produce custom bat ear replicas for casting.
  • Integration of sensors and sound output for an interactive learning experience.

Why It Matters

This non-sensitive, public-facing project is pivotal for outreach and science communication, sparking curiosity and engagement among young learners.

 

 

MDF Stand

The MDF stand project aimed to streamline the mounting of equipment within an electromagnetic isolated chamber in the electromagnetics industry. This modular stand was designed for mobility and ease of assembly, ensuring that equipment remains stable while complying with EM isolation standards.

  • Modular design for flexible equipment mounting.
  • MDF material selection for EMI Compatibility.
  • Easy mobility features for quick repositioning.
